Toy Story 5 Trailer Pits The Beloved Duo Against a Tablet Computer

It has been 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story movie debuted, launching the animation giant as a leading film company and bringing viewers to beloved characters like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a brief look into the plot but keeping fans wondering how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang

The preview shows the young girl — who received the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a latest toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer doesn't touch on is why Woody is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a carnival and helping prize toys locate loving owners.

Certainly, the filmmakers will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is somewhat puzzling, though. It also raises questions whether his partner will have returned with Woody. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?

Continuity from the Previous Film

At the very least, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the badge pinned to her shirt.

Hopefully she is remains the key figure among the toys.

Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
